The CDS Field Tool provides the hardware and software means to configure the field devices for joining to a wireless network employing the ISA100.11a standard.
The Field Tool is a portable device capable of communicating over- the-air (OTA) and out-of-band (OOB) with a certified ISA100.11a field device. An embedded CDS VN210 radio module provides OTA configuration of field devices, while a built-in infrared transceiver allows for OOB configuration.
The VS210 is designed to be suitable for use by anyone from beginners to advanced users experimenting with ISA100 or WirelessHART application. It provides 23 I/O pins that support a number of peripheral functions, such as UART, SPI, I2CTM ports, as well as pulse-width modulated outputs, external interrupt and analog inputs.
